We visited on 17 November and were surveying the health and hygiene needs of 18 disabled Karen
minority persons in the company of two local Karen medical clinic staff and the district “Palat” responsible for
local resident welfare. We encountered dementia, Parkinson’s disease, advanced diabetes, various forms of
cancer, and many examples of sub-standard nutrition. We will return to this area again early in December
in an attempt to help provide mattresses, bedding, adult pampers, and items of nutrition.
